Yes for Walnut Creek is a grassroots group of Walnut Creek residents and civic, non-profit and business leaders who came together in 2009 to support the community's efforts to bring Neiman Marcus to Broadway Plaza and to support Measure I, which was on the November 3, 2009 ballot. Yes for Walnut Creek is committed to:

  • Ensuring that Walnut Creek residents have a say in our own future.
  • Keeping the community informed on important local issues.
  • Maintaining our quality of life for us and our children.

In 2009, Yes for Walnut Creek organized more than 200 community members who walked neighborhoods, phoned voters, distributed lawn signs, and wrote letters in support of Measure I, which was approved by nearly 72% of the voters and will allow Neiman Marcus to build at Broadway Plaza.

Broadway Plaza Celebration

In April, Broadway Plaza celebrated the beginning of the next phase for the construction of the Neiman Marcus store. This special ceremony was a “thank you” to all of the supporters during last year’s Measure I campaign, in which the City of Walnut Creek said “Yes” to Neiman Marcus!

Taubman Pays West Hartford Mall Owner

In December, Taubman Centers Inc., which backed the opposition to Neiman Marcus coming to Broadway Plaza, agreed to a $34 million settlement in West Hartford, Conn., over litigation that delayed construction of a competitive mall.

Voters Say YES to Neiman Marcus and Walnut Creek!

In an unprecedented showing of community support, Walnut Creek voters resoundingly approved Measure I yesterday (Nov. 3), clearing the way for a small Neiman Marcus store to be built at Broadway Plaza. With virtually all ballots counted, nearly 72% of voters said YES on Measure I.
